INTERNATIONAL WU STYLE TAI CHI CHUAN FEDERATION

Ko Yu Chun

YC KO is a veteran professional firefighter with extensive working experience with the Toronto Fire Services and presently with the Hong Kong Fire Services Department. He was the Founding Vice-President of the Institution of Fire Engineers (Ontario Branch) Canada and was also a member of the Professional Standard Setting Body of Ontario Fire Service.

Besides his intensive professional engagement, he is also a researcher in firefighter psychology with specific emphasis on work stress, morale and occupational personality. His research findings were published in professional journals and two of his studies had won him awards from the international fire community, the Best Technical Paper Competition Award of The Institution of Fire Engineers (International).

Apart from his fire-fighting profession, he is also a long time supporter of continuing education and have been teaching courses (part-time) in management, sociology and psychology in various post-secondary institutes in Hong Kong and Shanghai, China, including The University of Hong Kong School of Professional and Continuous Education, The Chinese University of Hong Kong School of Continuing Studies and the Hong Kong Shue Yan College.

YC KO is an enthusiastic kung fu lover and has been practicing different styles of martial arts since his early teens. He attained a Black Belt in Karate in 1975. He has been practicing Tai Chi (Yang Style) since 1970 and was Instructor in Taichi (Yang Style) at the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care, Scarborough, Ontario Canada in 1997-1998. In a special occasion he met Sifu Eddie WU in 2002. Being enlightened by Sifu WU upon Wu Style Taichi YC soon devoted whole heartedly into the practice of WU style and joined the academy in the same year. Ko joined the discipleship of Sifu Eddie WU in 2004. He is at present teaching Wu Style Taichi, which is specially designed by Sifu Eddie WU for the physically handicapped persons, at the Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth.
