Patricia Locke

From 2010-2013, I studied tai chi in Santa Fe, NM with Robert Tangora (spinal chi kung, Cheng Man Ch’ing 37-posture yang style, and a Wu variant 108-form). I began systematic study of Wu Tai Chi Chuan in my home city of Washington DC in 2015. Sifu Larry Hawkins instilled in me the desire to be precise and at the same time relaxed in training. I hope to continue to deepen tai chi and chi gung with Sifu. I consider the 108-posture form to be the heart of my practice, though I am familiar with the 12 and 54 posture forms. On the martial side, I am drawn to the sword, and have practiced sabre and short spear form. In Sifu Hawkins’ academy, I have studied basic push hands, Nine-Palace, Da-Lu, applications and chi kung. I especially like working with beginners who have some physical recovery issues. To me, Wu tai chi is not only about health and balance but is an ever-enriching way of life that highlights personal strength, serenity and community.
