Michael Dwyer began training Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan in April 1998, under the direction of Sifu John Marchewitz, a 6th generation disciple and chief instructor with the Rochester Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan Institute. Dwyer was attracted to the soft style martial art for its benefits of mental, spiritual, and physical health. Now, Tai Chi is an integral part of his life. Michael has attended professional development seminars led by Sifu Stephen Britt and Grand Master Eddie Wu Kwong Yu to improve his understanding of Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan. Over the years, he began teaching as an assistant instructor with Sifu Marchewitz. He recognizes that teaching Tai Chi Chuan is an important step to learning and understanding the art form. Michael has learned various hand forms, weapon forms, and push hands. While the learning will never end, he endeavors to improve his skills, learn more, and to share his experiences of Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan. In August 2024, Dwyer became a 7th generation disciple of Sifu John Marchewitz during a ceremony presided over by Grand Master Eddie Wu Kwong Yu. Multiple North American schools and disciples were in attendance. In addition, Michael Dwyer was certified as an Instructor of Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan by Grand Master Eddie Wu Kwong Yu. Michael enjoys the Tai Chi Chuan community with advanced training, disciple lunches, and multischool banquets and events. Dwyer now teaches his own classes to adults and seniors, as well as, he continues to train and teach with the Rochester Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan Institute. He is a certified Alpine Ski Instructor, writer, photographer, and freelance content creator. He enjoys his work, adores travel, and loves to create ceramic art in his free time. |
