Poh Mui Hoon

I have been interested in martial arts from young and started to train in Tae Kwon Do when I was 14 years old. I stopped martial arts training for a while and several years ago tried to go back to Tai Kwon Do. However, I find the hard art rather punishing on the body and was glad to be introduced to Tai Chi Chuan. I am awed by how Tai Chi Chuan, a soft style martial art, can generate such power to overcome opponents. The use of leverage through the joints based on coordination in relaxation, rather than muscular tension, in order to neutralize or initiate physical attacks is fascinating. The art also has huge health payoffs. It keeps the body agile and its effect on disease prevention or stress management are well known. I am glad to have the opportunity to train under Sifu, Ms Saw Phaik Hwa, Mr Goon and other elders who have spent years practising the art.
