Victor Mouquin

I left my home Switzerland in 2008 to come to Hong Kong pursue my academic studies and to obtain a Ph.D. in Mathematics. Being of half chinese descent, traditional martial arts, especially the internal ones, always fascinated me, and I had practiced some of them before leaving Switzerland. Thus I had made my mind that once in Hong Kong, I would learn Taijiquan. A friend of mine introduced me to the Wu's Tai Chi Chuan Academy, and after attending a few classes, I quickly became captivated by Wu style Taijiquan.

Before, Taijiquan to me was an esoteric and slightly mysterious art. But after starting to follow Sifu Ng Kwong Yu, what struck me the most was his scientific approach to teaching and practicing Taijiquan. Now, the complexity and subtlety of this art are what appeals to me the most. I find use of the mind to obtain a perfect alignment of the body and coordination of the body with the Qi very fascinating.

I was accepted as a disciple of Sifu Ng Kwong Yu in July 2011, and I never had to look back. I wish to thank Sifu, and all my Si Hing's, in particular Heung Lap-Chi, Chon Kit-Leong and Jeff Chui, for their continual guidance and encouragements.
