Yap Sau Hsien

Martial arts has always been my fascination since young, particularly Chinese martial arts. Through my schooling days in Malaysia, I have been learning Tae Kwon Do and Hung Gar Fist until I left for the UK to further my education and work. Thereafter, I started learning Choi Li Fut for a while but I felt that these martial arts are not sustainable in the long term as they exert a lot of physical stress on the body. By then, I already knew about WuStyle TaiJi through my cousin, Miss Saw Phaik Hwa. Thus I decided to start learning this art as it is an effective martial art and has the ability to “cultivate life” according to the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I self learn the art for a year before having the honour of meeting Grand Master Eddie Wu Kwong Yu in 2008 in London. I attended his workshops in London for a couple of years after that and eventually had the great honour of becoming his disciple at the end 2011 in Singapore.

Since 2014 I have migrated to Singapore and have been very fortunate to continue learning under a group of very passionate and dedicated instructors at the Singapore Jian Chuan Tai Chi Chuan Physical Culture Association.
