My first encounter with Taichi was at California Fitness Club in HK in 2002. At that time I was working in HK. At one of the demonstrations there, I was amazed by the speed and agility of the master to counter his opponent’s attacks effortlessly considering he was around sixty years old then. From my knowledge of Taichi, there were sayings That “Four Ounces can deflect a Thousand Pounds “& “Overcoming Hardness with Softness “. I was skeptical then but after the amazing performance by the master, I believed that Taichi is a formidable form of internal martial arts. From that day onwards, my interest in Taichi increased tremendously and made up my mind to learn more. At around 2003, I enrolled at HK WuStyle Headquarters at Jordan Rd through a friend’s recommendation. I learnt there for six months but had to disrupt due to my work schedule. It was not until that I moved back to Singapore that I decided to continue my learning which is around 2005. After a few months at the Academy, I had to honor to become one of the disciples of Sifu Eddie Wu. Sifu was patient with us and explained the practical applications of certain moves or forms. I learnt a lot at the two sessions conducted by Sifu Eddie. I feel that Taichi is a good form of physical and mental training. It calms my mind when performing the 108 Forms and aids in developing discipline and building up “Wu De “. It also helps me to relax after a day work.
